A workshop in Kuching, Sarawak…

July 1st, 2008 by ted

From time to time, I received request/suggestion to hold a workshop in other parts of the country besides just Kuala Lumpur/Klang Valley area. In my previous workshops, there’s participants who drove hundreds of kilometres from the North and East coast (spending extras on accomodations and such, hats off to them) and my Pangkor workshop back in 2006 there’s even one participant who FLEW all the way from Kuching, Sarawak to attend it. (Mata Batu dewd, I lost your number lah when I switched phone, give me a ring ya if you happen to read this entry lah)

I’m really am touched and humbled by them. By their presence, I’m spurred to give out extras in my workshop by sharing my experiences in the field on top of the technical aspects of photography lighting that I teach.

I’m happy to announced that Kelab Fotografi Kenyalang is organising a ‘Ted Adnan’s Lighting Technique Workshop’ in Kuching, Sarawak this 11 & 12 July, 2008. Details as follows:

Off to Terengganu to cover the Edaran Endurance Classic 2008 this weekend…

June 26th, 2008 by ted

Well, I just managed to ’steal’ some time to upload this entry lah. The Crew and I will be covering the EDARAN ENDURANCE CLASSIC 2008 this weekend @ Terengganu International Equestrian Park (TIEP) in Lembah Bidong, Terengganu.

The EDARAN ENDURANCE CLASSIC 2008 will feature four ride categories namely, the main ride event which is the FEI-CEI 3-Star 160KM, a CEI 3*/CEIJY 3*120KM, an 80KM and a 40KM ride.

The above silhouetted image of a horse and the rider was made during Edaran Endurance Classic 2007 which was held for the first time in Terengganu International Equstrian Park. The event tradionational ground is located at Ar-Raudhah stable, Selangor, Malaysia. The Edaran Endurance Classic is one of the endurance event that runs up to WEC 2008 (World Endurance Championship 2008).

If you must know, the camera used was a mere Nikon D2H and a 300mm f2.8 lens lah. It’s a sunrise shot and this is prolly the 3rd or 5th out of 7th/8th frame the sequence that I’ve shot. All are pin sharp. I only realised what I’ve took later in the day when reviewing the pictures on the laptop after the event is finished. You got to plan your shots, sometimes you get them, sometimes you don’t. But if everything went well thru God graces the moment you ‘captured’ will be just (thru lack of better word) ….perfect.

BTW, I have been covering the Edaran Endurance Classic series since it’s first inception back in 2003. Why lah am I telling you this lah?

Well, becoz I can? *grins*

Where we were, earlier today…

Shade Rashid (intern from UiTM Skool of Photography) and the Ariffin dewd assisted me shooting an interior shoot today lah. I can’t tell who the Client as yet, but I can tell you that I worked with one of my Art Director friend Riz Ainuddin.

We worked together for a reality teevee show sumtime back (not, not Teman Season 1 and Season 2, it’s ‘Mamee Slurp Menjana Impian’ a TV3 production. You can’t remember the show? Well, I told ya it was shown sumtime back….).

How do I shoot interiors? Well, I’m kinda an old skool kind of guy, so I used a mixture of mix lighting using studio lights with grids and honeycombs and my Nikon SB-800 Speedlights with homemade light modifiers (courtesy of my good friend Doc Faisal) to compliment existing ambient and room light. None of them ’shoot-RAW-in-ambient-light-only dewds who spends time editing the images in heaps of layers and masking techniques and sacrificing their nights editing them files. I rather spend my nights sleeping than wades thru tons of RAW files to mess around with.

Apologies to them ’shoot-RAW-in-ambient-light-only dewds who spends time editing the images in heaps of layers and masking techniques and sacrificing their nights editing them files’. To each his own, that’s what I always say to meself. *grins*

Okay folks I’m kidding. I do layers and masking stuff but I kept them to a bare minimum if possible. I rather sleep soundly at nights. So anyhow, there’s another day of shooting, and the day after that I gonna leave town for an assignment out of er, town. You can still reach me by my mobile tho. Unless I’m out shooting while you call that is.

But then again, there’s always the sms things *wink*

**Re: The caption for the pic above. I know, I gotta lose the tummy *sigh*
